Join us for a awesome fall-foliage railway journey along the mighty Hudson. Riverside sights include stately mansions, quaint villages, towering bridges, Bear Mountain, West Point, Bannerman's Castle, Catskill Mountains, Hudson Highlands, historic lighthouses and a myriad of colorful boats. Travel in style and enjoy a splendid brunch and dinner served in our exclusive Santa Fe Dining Car "Epicurus". You'll delight in wonderful freshly-prepared meals served at tables boasting picture window views of the Hudson River Valley. Soothing music, colorful floral arrangements and snowy-white linens enhance the experience. In Albany an informative orientation will acquaint you with the city's past and present. See the ornate Romanesque style state Capitol....the Executive Mansion....the Famous D&H Building....and the "Egg". Visit the State Museum for a fascinating look at the history of New York State. Special exhibits feature artwork from the famous "Hudson River School", the "911" World Trade Center Rescue Operation, The Native Peoples, The Adirondack Wilderness, Windows on New York City, as well as the newly restored antique carousel all can ride. September 18: Irish Festival The I2K music and arts festival features traditional and contemporary Irish Bands. Festival-goers will be treated to the sounds of Irish Pipe Bands, Dance competitions, Family Rides and Irish Craft Vendor displays. (No Albany city tour or State Museum visit for those who choose to attend the festival)
September 19: Carillon Concert The Albany City Carillon will ring out with a beautiful concert. Enjoy the sounds of this enchanting instrument of 49 bells.
September 25: Spirit of America A patriotic, live-action show presented by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. Performed by more than 400 soldiers of the U.S. Army's elite ceremonial units, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," this show features traditional and modern music, disciplined drill and historical narrative as Soldiers recap the heritage of our country in an inspiring and entertaining performance.
October 9: Tall Ships and Navy Boats Step aboard and tour an exact replica of the Dutch exploration ship that Henry Hudson sailed to Albany in 1609 in search of the orient. Afterwards discover the destroyer escort "U.S.S. Slater" and experience what life was like for the sailors who manned these important vessels.
October 10: Italian Festival Set in the beautiful fall colors of Washington Park, this festival showcases the best of Italian music and food. A colorful parade features marching bands, folk dances, a grand marshal and hundreds of participants. At the lakehouse a live band and vocalists will showcase your favorite traditional Italian tunes.
October 17: Allen Mills' Memorial Organ Concert We'll travel to the magnificently restored Proctor's theater in Schenectady for a concert featuring beautiful melodies performed by Tom Hazleton at the mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ "Goldie"..... the "king of instruments". (Dining Car Service Only...No Parlor-Observation Car)A great Autumn day concludes with a gala "Autumn Bounty" dinner served in our Dining Car "Epicurus" and a twilight passing under the glimmering George Washington Bridge. |
